The College Virtual Private Network (VPN) server is used to gain access to college resources when you are not on campus. This mainly includes the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and network drives. You do not need VPN access to get your email or to log in to Brightspace.

Important - You need to have your college account setup for VPN access before you try installing the client.  Please complete the instructions at

Installing the VPN Client on Windows

Now that you have either the E-Grid Card or the Mobile Phone App configured we need to install the VPN Client software on your laptop.

Download the Cisco AnyConnect Client here.

https://algonquinhelpdesk.s3.amazonaws.com/anyconnect-win-4.8.03052.msi

Run the Installer and follow the onscreen prompts.

When it finishes installing you will find a Cisco folder in your Start Menu.

Running the Cisco AnyConnect Client

Run the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client from the Start Menu.  The first time you run this you will need to enter "secure.algonquincollege.com" into the field.

Click on Connect and enter you college username and password.  DO NOT enter anything for the second password.  Click OK.

If you decided to setup your account with an E-Grid Card open your E-Grid PDF document now.

Here is a sample of what an E-Grid card looks like.  When connecting to VPN you will be asked for a three digit code.  For example, [B1] [F3] [J4]. Based on this sample the answer is F6C.

If you decided to setup your account with a Soft Token on your Phone, open the Entrust Identity Guard App now.

You will have 30 seconds to enter the code into your laptop.

Disconnecting from the VPN Server

When you are done and do not need the VPN connection anymore, run the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client again from the Start Menu.  Click on the Disconnect button.
